St. John - Dingy Rental??

Hello - I have heard that you can rent dingys in St. John for half/full days. Does anyone know the names of companies that do this? Do they require reservations, or do most work like a 'first come, first serve' basis?

Has anyone done this? Where did you go & what did you do? I heard we could go snorkel with turtles in Caneel Bay, but would love additional suggestions.

Thanks!

We plan on renting a dinghy when we are there in May too. I found one web site that looked good - http://www.viconcierge.com/noahs.htm

We rented a dinghy from Noah's Little Arks last May and it was one of the best days of our entire trip! It's a great way to snorkel at multiple sites without having to spend all day driving and walking to the beaches. They will give you a nice laminated map that clearly shows where you are allowed to go and how to navigate into the beach areas.

Noah's Little Arks is located just to the right of the Beach Bar in Cruz Bay on the beach if you are facing the bar (with your back to the ocean). We reserved our dinghy the day prior to going out and they had plenty of availability.

You can reserve the dinghy for a full day or a half day. I highly suggest that you rent it for the full day. We would have felt too rushed if we only had a few hours. The time that we had in a full day was just enough to get all the way to Waterlemon (Do NOT miss this stop - best snorkeling on the island!) and stop at most of all the other beaches on the way back to snorkel.

They provide a cooler with ice. We stopped in the morning at a bakery and picked up some sandwiches for lunch. Make sure that you bring plenty of water!

Have a great trip! St. John is incredible!

Thanks for the great info. We'll be in St. John in May too, and this sounds like a great way to see some less traveled snorkling spots. Trish
