St John Beaches and children
Hello all,
what beach in St John do you recommend would be good with children. Looking for something that isn't too deep right away so that the kids can play in the water without too much worry on the depth of the water. Thanks |
Trunk Bay and Caneel were our favorites with our children. I wasn't as concerned with the depth of the water but these two have facilities and food (at Caneel you would be using the hotel restaurant and bathroom). Also, there were many families at both beaches so the kids found instant friends. St. John is such a great destination with children, enjoy!

The most "mellow" beach we've been to is Salt Bay Pond, it is very protected. Hawksnest and Francis Bay should also be good
|
I agree that Trunk, Francis Bay and Hawksnest are great choices in beaches for children. Trunk has lifeguards if that is a consideration and Hawksnest and Francis are so mellow; lots of shallow water before it even begins to get deeper. However, you are in just about the best waters for crystal clarity as well as spectacular beaches on this pristine little island.

Thanks everyone.
One more question. What is the best way to get to Trunk bay from the cruise ship terminal without taking a cruise excursion? |
Presume you mean the cruise ship terminal on St. Thomas - since there isn't one on St. John.
There are two cruise ship docks in St. Thomas, one at Crown Bay and the other at Havenisight. From either one you would have to take a taxi to either the waterfront ferry or the Red Hook (East End) ferry and then take the 10 minute ferry ride over to St. John where you can hop in a taxi or on a safari bus to take you to Trunk Bay. If you go to www.usvi-on-line.com you'll find all the info you'll need. |
