St. John Accomocations
 

Thanks for your ideas on my last question and I'm going to try and be more clear. I'm traveling with my husband and two small children to St. John in February. We got a great airfare and I had no idea accomodations would be so high. Any ideas of where we can stay, that is kid friendly, and has reasonable rates?

Concordia Eco-Tent cottages are an option. They are interesting, comfortable, very economical and have a million dollar view! They have a sleeping loft that kids would love if they are old enough and access to a pool. Not for everyone, but we loved them!

Knowing a little about St. John I think all of the places recommended in your hotel post were good recommendations. We loved Sago cottage but I'm not sure of the porch with kids.

Winter rates are definitely higher. It may be easier if you list your range of rates. There's no shortage of villas on St. John so you'll find something.

Try renting a villa. We rented a villa that had a pool. Perfect with kids. We used Windspree, see www.windspree.com. Also there are many other rental agencies that could accomodate villa rentals. Good luck, book early.

I've been researching for months to try to find an affordable villa. I don't know what you want to spend, but here are some villas that I found that were pretty reasonable. It probably won't get much cheaper than these, because I've searched!! We are staying at bananawind but it won't be large enough for you and children.

We too used www.stjohnlinks.com to find a villa rental. We stayed at John's Folly Cottages and loved it. You must decide on what part of the island you want to be, and then search for a villa from there. You've got some good suggestions here. Good luck! St. John is one of our favorites! Trish

Check out Cinnamon Bay Camp Ground and stay in one of the concrete "cottages". The restaurant is good, the beach is BEAUTIFUL, there are lots of children, and US Park Service programs (like beach walks) for the kids and you. It's fancy camping. OR check out Maho Bay camp....again, family friendly. NR

We visited St. Johns three times w/ our daughter. Once we stayed at Gallows Point. They have a master BR w/ Bath (large shower) and a LR w/ pull out sofa -- so there's some privacy for sleeping arrangements. There is also a small kitchen a pool and a good snorkeling beach. It's up on the hill from the "town" and you can walk down to the local restaurants from the villas. Another time we rented the villa "Colorado" which has 4 master bedrooms (we went w/ another couple and shared expenses), a full kitchen and a swimming pool..looking out onto the same bay that the Westin (is it still the westin?) did. It was also reasonable when shared w/ another family. Good luck - you'll never find another island quite as nice.
