St James Club Antigua, or REx halcyon or St. lucia (rex or wyndham)?

Looking for a beautiful and relaxing holiday. Don't want to spend over 3000 pp (CDN) with food. We could go all-inclusive or EP. Is the St. James club in Antigua beautiful? Is the beach big? turquoise water? I have heard that the beaches are not great in St Lucia but are there any upscale resorts for this price? We want beauty, good food and a decent room. Thanks

I honeymooned at Sandals Antigua last year which is next door to Rex Halcyon. The beach is great with powder-like sand, turquoise water and beautiful sunsets. I did not go on the property at Rex Halcyon, although we did walk down there and it looked nice. They also have a restaurant on the water that looked great. I believe they may have had entertainment nightly, we always heard music from the resort.
Good luck in deciding and enjoy!

I'd like to note for the record that folks say that in comparison - to Grand Cayman or St. John - the beaches at St. Lucia "are not great" as you noted.
Please know that there are some very nice beaches in St. Lucia, it's just not the same in comparison. You won't find white talc-like sand; it's a volcanic island, more like dark golden. The water is a little 'wavier' in the North, calmer in the South, but clear and warm.

With your price range, you could still go to 2 wonderful upscale properties in St. Lucia. Ladera Resort in Southern St. Lucia is a unique property (rooms are right on the mtn, opened), with some rooms having their own plunge pool and a great restaurant. There's our fav, LeSport, with a small beach but in the Northern part, that is an AI and has spa treatments included, and 3 meals +4pm High Tea and all prem. liquors included, so you do get the most for your bucks.

Check out the websites for both of the above (FYI, during high season at LeSport, children <16 are not accommodated).

I am going to St James club in March.I have heard mostly very good things about it. I have sent clients to both and by far St James Club has had better feedback.

I got a good deal at the St James Club on St Lucia--$2500 all inclusive 7 days, 2 people. It was formerly the Wyndham. The Rex resorts are also having sales. E-mail me and I will give you the web site

I am well aware that you were refering to the St James on Antigua. I was just pointing out there is also a St James on St Lucia and they and the Rex resorts on St Lucia were having a good sale which might fit within your budget. I asked you to E=mail me for the web site because webmasters frown on people posting competitors web sites on theirs and will delete the post
