St. Croix Must-See and Do?

My husband and I will be leaving Oct. 18th for a week-long dive trip to St. Croix. I want to make sure we make the most of our time topside...what are the "Must see and do" sights? And although we do plan to go see the drinkng pigs, the rum distillery and the crab races, we really prefer the non-touristy type activities.

Any suggestions?

We went to St Croix this summer and loved it! I highly recommend going to the st croix forum on tripadvisor, there is so much information and help! Where are you staying?

A few Must Do's that come to mind:
-SNORKELING TRIP TO BUCK ISLAND
-pack a breakfast/lunch, drive to Point Udall, and hike down to Isaac's Bay.
-We didn't get to go since the park was closed for turtle nesting, but I've heard some really great things about Sandy Point National Park and I think it will be open when you guys visit.

Thanks for the info. We bought a package through one of the dive shops on the island, and are staying at the Palms at Pelican Cove. We have 5 days of morning dives planned, but I've already told my husband that I would like to spend SOME time topside!

A question about Buck Island- is the draw to there JUST the snorkeling, or are there other things to see and do while you're there?

Buck Island is a deserted island. The beach is pristine, and uncrowded. The main attraction is the snorekling. The reef there is very nice, and has great visibility. Be sure to venture outside the "marked trail"....it was a great snorkel.

Buck Island is on the cover of Nov issue of Caribbean Travel & Life.

It's not to be missed! One of my favorite experiences in St. Croix.
