St Croix at Christmas with small children

I am looking for advice from those with first hand knowledge of the state of the island. We rented a house on the northern part of the island (the house is OK, not sure if it has power yet though) for Christmas for a group which includes small children, as well as children and adults with severe food allergies. Basically, we are kind of higher needs and will need to have proper supplies available, and also worry about medical care on the island since we are traveling with small children/infants and those with allergies. We would love to not cancel our trip, we are all very much looking forward to the trip and also want to help with tourism. Is going at Christmas a bad idea?!

You might want to review past threads TripAdvisor's USVI (General) and St. Croix (Specific) Forums about the impact Hurricanes Irma and Maria had on the island. Also, go to the US Virgin Island Relocation Forum (http://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/) where you find lots of threads and comments from "locals" describing the current situation.

Basically, the island was hit very hard and things are still in a state of flux on St. Croix

We loved The Buccaneer on St Croix. Their Facebook posts show that they are up and running, with no significant hurricane damage. They housed displaced residents from other islands.

It would be a good choice for you, to have the support of their staff in case of any problems with your group.

The Buccaneer has been family owned for generations, and prides itself on its excellent customer service.
