St. Barts Restaurants

Where would you suggest for one great dinner in St.Barts - and could you please comment on why you like it. We are looking for good food, not concerned about price, and also would like a nice atmosphere -- such as open air and/or overlooking the ocean. Also need a suggestion for lunch.

Thanks.

Let's see -- there is almost too much choice here. My favourite dinner was at On the Rocks at Eden Rock -- great service, setting and supper. Nikki Beach was cool for ambience and atmosphere. K'fai Massai had a great tropical garden ambience and very good food. A great lunch spot is Do Brazil, overlooking Shell Beach. I could go on but no doubt you will get tons of other recommendations.

We spent 2 weeks in St Barths in Nov. Our favorite dinner, by far, was K'fai Massai. it was fantastic. I love Carl Gustaf as well, as the food is very good and the view is amazing. Have fun!

I think the best place to eat on St. Barts is at Le Toiny, it's very expensive! $200+ for 2 with wine ect. But for a special occasion it can't be beat.
I've had a couple of the best meals of my life there.
The Tapas place at Eden Rock is great too, though you can find excellent dining all over that beautiful island.
La Gloriette, wasn't that great I remember.

The most recent trip, Nov. 2005, was not as good food-wise as it has been for us in the past. Actually I have always had better meals in Grand Case (sxm) than St Barths.

It's been awhile since I went to St. Bart's - almost 4 years, but I loved Mandala. It is up on a hill so you overlook Gustavia Harbor. I still remember my dinner - Filet Mignon in sake sauce with french fries. After dinner we sat in the bar area on a big comfy couch and played backgammon! Great memory.

Let's see...so many to pick! That is probably one of the greatest aspects of this island..the food!

Maya's
Eddy's
K'fe Matisse
Le Gaiac (inside Le Toiny)
La Rivage (lunch..yummy lobster salad!)
La Plage (lunch..funky on the beach)
Le Ti (hip, music, dancing on tables at night)

I wish I could think of more right now, but this is what stands out in my mind! Enjoy your trip!

La Mandala has gone down hill. The restaurant is beautiful and the apps. were great (seared tuna, etc) we had the app. plate which I think was like $40. but the entrees were terrible. We both had steak and it so tough we could not really eat it. It is in a fabulous location over the harbour, but the food left a little to be desired. Plus I ordered an iced tea which was like dishwater. Then they brewed more and it was still terrible.
