Speeding ticket in Puerto Rico
 
We got a speeding ticket on the way to the San Juan airport yesterday. The ticket says you must pay in person; there is no mailing address to send payment. We didn't have enough time to look for a "colecturia" to pay, so we just dropped the rental car and flew home. We decided not to mention it to the rental company so as not to open a "can of worms." Does anyone know if you can pay the fine online or by mail? If so, please advise. Thanks

Well, no experience here but I expect the rental car company will bill you when they get charged.

Call them and ask for advice, hopefully you can avoid a late charge.

oh lord why did you do that?! Did you get the badge number and name of the officer? I know there is a police station in Fajardo. Look online for police stations with an address in San Juan!
Do you realize that now the rental car company has to deal with this?!

Calm! the speeding ticket is applied to your driver's licence (in Puerto Rico), it will only show up when you try to renew the licence, so unless you have a PR licence you are fine. The Car Rental company only has to deal with tickets applied to the car (parking tickets) which they have to pay when renewing the car's license. Don't worry.
