seeking suggestions on Islands and hotels. <BR>planning a surprise birthday vacation for my friend. would like to stay on beach. snorkling is not a priority, but clean beach is. preferably aqua marine sea. blue skies. peaceful. some night life (music) okay. good food. target travel time Feb or March. <BR>your suggestons and guidance would be greatly apprciated. please list hotel $$ on your post. thank you.

Check out Barrymore Beach Club, Runaway Bay, Antigua. Full info available on their page on www.vacationspot.com or directly from hotel. In February rates range from US$115.00 - US$240.00 for a double room or apartment.

If snorkeling isn't a priority, look into Anguilla. It has some of the most fantastic beaches in the world, almost zero crime rate, excellent restaurants and some of the nicest people we have ever encountered in the Caribbean. You can even take a day trip to St. Martin for some extended nightlife or shopping.

Great suggestion but the target date might be too close for comfort with Lenny's visit there recently. There are many people who are choosing not to chance either Anguilla or St. Marteen although the reports about some of the resorts indicate all is well!

Consider Bavaro Beach in the Dominican Republic at fabulous Punta Cana Beach. You'll get more for your buck at the D.R.
