Somewhere similar to St. Barth's?
My husband and I LOVE St. Barths and are looking to go somewhere similar (walking town, lots of restaurants, bars, etc.) but for not quite as much money. We are willing to spend but would love it to be at least slightly more reasonable... We would really appreciate suggestions!!

You might look into the Family Islands of the Bahamas, like Harbour Island, Cat, Abaco, Long. Eleuthera is also beautiful but not a walking island.
I have been going to Harbour Island whenever I can for the last 18 years and love it there.
Several nice places to stay, beautiful beach, great food, smallish community and you can walk everywhere.
YOu might try some of the websites for info www.runawayhill.com www.coralsands.com www.rockhousebahamas.com and www.romorabay.com
Hope this helps have a great time.

My husband and I loved St. Barths too..have been twice but the $$ can be a little crazy after a while. We are in our mid-30's and love to go away for sun, great food and a bar scene. we recently discovered Playa del Carmen in Mexico. We enjoyed our stay at the El Faro Hotel. Tulum, a little further south, is a very funky beach area with lots of unique "palapas" on the beachfront.

My husband and I wanted to know the same thing...I think some comparisons are:
Cabo San Lucas - walking town, restaurants, bars, harbour and a lot less money.
Anguilla and Bermuda - great shopping and good food.

We are St. Bart regulars who are planning to go to Isle de Saintes for 4 days in November. We have three addtional days and are trying to choose between Marie Galante and Guadeloupe. Do you have any information. We only have 7 nights, and must spend the first night on Guadeloupe due to the arrival time (6PM), therefore I am leaning towards Guadeloupe since there is not much time.
Thanks for any suggestions about where to stay and how to set up the transportation between the islands.

Guadeloupe has a lot to see. We took a day tour of the rainforest, volcano and a banana plantation. The island is beautiful and the food is excellent, but the people are very rude. It does help if you speak a little French.
