Snorkeling Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

We'll be in Georgetown (from a Disney Cruise) and want to go to Seven Mile Beach for an hour or so, to let our 7-year-old snorkel. What part of Seven Mile Beach would be the best for us to go to? I assume that taxis would be pretty easy to find and arrange to pick us back up? Right?
Thank you
Sue

It is easy to get a taxi from the port, but if you are going to an out of the way area you have to call to get one to pick you up.
I assume you have your own gear.
The following link is the most comprehensive guide to snorkeling in Grand Cayman:

Try checking out Eden Rock....located at Eden Rock Dive shop just south of where the ships bring folks in. They have a ladder into the water. Hope your 7 yr old isn't afraid of swimming amongst big fish....you might see everything from Tarpon (about 5-6 feet long) to large Barracuda here...it's awesome.

Also when friends and I were snorkling a few years ago by Eden Rock we, strong swimmers that we were, found a few currents that we had to deal with. Supervision may be necessary with a 7 year old. The dive master will know.

I agree with amer_can, always be aware of possible currents, which is a given with snorkeling anywhere.....of course one would (hope) that there would be supervision for a 7 yr old swimming in the ocean regardless of any currents...

Governors beach. Its right on 7 mile next to the Westin/behind the Governors house. Several young kids in our party enjoyed the snorkelling which is easily accesibe right from shore. The water was very calm the day we were there.

7 year olds will not be looking for exotic reef life.
mnag has a good suggestion, The area by the Westin is very safe, clean, wonderful sand and gentle sloping with very little wave action and there is easy access to Georgetown to return to the ship...that is if you dock/tender there..If you have to go to south sound then the trip to 7 Mile will be a little longer..take care to not overstay you time..
