Snorkeling right off the beach?

Can anyone suggest someplace in the Carribean that is a short flight from Newark where I can do some decent snorkeling right off the beach of the hotel without getting on a boat? I wouldlike to travel in mide-December (pre-Christmas)

Turks and Caicos is a short, direct flight. I found the snorkeling off the beach to be great. check it out!!

St. John...fly into St. Thomas, ferry to St. John, rent a villa & 'jeep'. Snorkel from any one of St. John's great beaches.

Not a reply, but a question: is it warm enough to swim comfortably in mid-Dec. in TC?

Not warm enough for me!

Water temps in December - 75 to 77 - brrr.
