Snorkeling on St. John
Going to be on St. John only one day and love to snorkel and would like to know where the best place is to go. Have heard that Trunk Bay is beautiful but crowded and therefore the snorkeling probably isn't that good. Thanks for any input.

Trunk Bay is beautiful and sometimes crowded. However, it is a place not to be missed. It gets Virgin Islands crowded not New York crowded. It also near many other great snorkeling beaches. So if Trunk Bay is too crowded
you can take an open-air jitney to Cinnamon Bay for about $2.50.

For excellent snorkeling, try Waterlemon Cay at Leinster Bay. Beautiful with tons of fish.

I agree with Marcia about Watermelon Cay. And I also agree that Runk Bay is not to be missed, just for the scenery. But if it's snorkeling you're after, Trunk Bay will disappoint. We swam with turtles in Hawknest Bay, also at Salt Pond Bay on the South Shore.

Do any of these places that are mentioned have locker facilities? What do you do with your "stuff" while you're snorkeling? Is it safe to leave on the beach?? Thanks.
It is not safe to leave valuables on the beach. Trunk and cinammon might have lockers- they do sell water proof money belts at travel stores- If you have a jeep that you can lock use that.
