Snorkeling in the Virgin Islands
Planning on doing several days of snorkeling in both St. Thomas and St. John. What are the rental rates for snorkeling equipment(day or extended period)?
Also any suggested spots? |
I personally would concentrate on St. John. There are numerous shore access sites including Waterlemon Cay, Haulover ( north & south ), Little Lameshur, and the list goes on.
Can't help on the rentals since we took our own. I know Crabby's in Coral Bay does rentals. |
many places rent. there is a rental place in the beach shop right where the ferry lets you off, i think it was about 30 dollars for the week. I picked it up on my way and returned when we left a week later....
for snorkeling off the beach, there is a thread on that so do a search but i loved honeymoon beach at Caneel bay it's off to the left of the resort (you can go in and use the beaches) I also enjoyed salt pond (beyond coral bay) didn't get to do cinnamon as it was too rough, but it's supposed to be very good. |
$5 to $8 per day, in general. You should buy your own. You could get a decent set for $30.

Do they sell snorkel equipment at Red Hook?
|
I'm not sure about stores at Red Hook, but they sell snorkeling equipment at Kmart in St. Thomas.
|
In Red Hook there is a dive shop at Molly McGuire's that sells dive and snorkle gear. Not sure about prices, but they do have it for sale.
|
Think you mean in American Yacht Harbour, Red Hook, near Molly Malone's. It's Chris Sawyer and I think he also is at Caneel Bay. His rates are at http://www.sawyerdive.vi/rental.htm Looks like it is about $48 for fins, mask and snorkel for the week. He does have prescription masks as well.
