Snorkeling

We will be arriving the end of the month in the DR by way of a cruise ship. Would like info on transportation and snorkeling availability. Thanks

Which port? It's a pretty big place....

Where have you snorkeled before? I ask only to determine if it is worth the effort in DR. The general quality is average "at Best" with one or two small islands not far off the mainland that a few tours were going to in 2005.

I'm not sure which port Norwegian will dock. We have snorkeled Hawaii, St. John's, Belise to name a few. Sounds like it may not be worth the time and trouble?

We've snorkeled all over the Caribbean, including DR.

IMO, choose something else to do there, it wasn't very good.

Now, of course, that depends on how much snorkeling you have done. When we first started just seeing a few fish was exciting.

Most of the ship company they offer snorkeling on the ship,so the best place to snorkel is at Catalina island in the Caribbean of the Dominican republic.

It is very nice to snorkeling up there.

We were at Cayo Levantado(Norwegian stops there) & also went to Playa Las Galeras & Playa Rincon. The snorkeling was not very good......

Based on Belize alone I suggest you look for another oouting. A sail on a 40+ft. boat that takes a max. of 15 guests would be lovely if the weather cooperates.
