snorkeling

I want to stay at a nice hotel with access to great snorkeling. I have a 5 year old so family oriented place would be nice. Any recommendation?
Thanks,
Kazuko

Do you have a specific island in mind?

There are lots of great beaches in Anguilla for snorkelling. ex. Shoal Bay, The Cove, Little Bay...
And lots of accomodations ranging from low to high.

Your child might like staying at Shoal Bay Villas or Shoal Bay Resort, there's usually kids on the beach to play with. You could take a glass-bottom boat ride with Junior Fleming. He loves kids and is always organising fun educational trips for school trips.

La Sirena Hotel is also very kid-friendly. They are not ON the beach, you have to walk through the gardens, but it's a 2 min walk. They have pools.

Malliouhana Hotel is very expensive but has a great kids play area with babysitting. They can be a bit stuffy though, the kids there tend to arrive with nannies, etc!

Sonesta Hotel was recently sold, but is still open and offering great rates for the summer, around $95 per night. Also good snorkelling. At Christmas they offer a week long arts and crafts camp for kids, my 5yr old loved it.

I hope this helps.

The Intercontinental Presidente in Cozumel has the best combination of what you are looking for I have seen.
Wide, white sand beach, very comprehensive children's program, and fantastic snorkeling and/or diving right off the beach in front of the hotel.

Beaches Turks and Caicos - the resort on is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and right down the beach from the resort is a super under water trail with excellent snorkeling. My sister jst returned from there with my 5 year old nephew and he had a ball - toons of kids, excellent pplaymakers that lead children's activites and the water is very calm for kids. It tedns to be pricey however but for her son, she said every cent was worth it - they really enjoyed themselves.
