Small Family resort in Carribean

We are looking for a small family resort in the Caribbean for a week in April. Myself and my two kids (5 and 8). Open to suggestions from Bahamas down to southern islands. Not interested in Jamaica or DR. Been to Beaches in Turks. (too big)

Would like to spend no more than $7K for the week including airfare.

Would like small quiet and upscale on a great beach that's safe. Flying from Canada.

You might look at Atlantis on Paradise Island. www.atlantis.com There are some great deals available online and through agents.

Also you might like Harbour Island. VERY safe, amazing crystal clear water and if you stayed at www.coralsands.com there is also a nice pool. This is very family friendly so your kids should find other kids to hang out with, and the beach there is one of the top 10 in the WORLD.

You can get direct flights to Nassau and then there are flights to N. Eleuthera Airport or you can take a fast ferry over.

we really need some more info. are you looking for an all inclusive or hotel? are you willing to rent a car or do you prefer to stay in your resort? are you looking for a kid oriented resort like beaches? would you go back to provo? was there anything you liked about the island? are you interested in maya riviera coast of mexico (cancun to tulum)? how do you want to spend your time? would you consider a condo? any details will help us narrow down options for you.

fyi: atlantis is the largest busiest resort in the islands

A small family resort in Antigua that I love is called the Long Bay Hotel. It's family-owned and family-friendly, located on a spit of land between a Caribbean Beach and a small bay. www.longbayhotel.com

I don't think Long Bay Hotel is open at the moment. I also don't think it is on the Caribbean side of the island but it is situated on a beautiful beach nonetheless.

Add the Westin St John, St John, USVI to your list. Good, safe, pretty "home base" and lots of cool around St John for when you want to get out & about. More killer beaches than you'll have time for.

The Westin Grand Cayman would also be a good choice. My husband and I took our two sons when they were 7 and 12, and it was the perfect size resort for us in that it wasn't too big and very family friendly. Snorkling right off the beach, and lots to do. Don't miss swimming with the stingrays at Stingray City!

I have read about the Buccaneer hotel on St. Croix being a very family oriented hotel. I have not stayed there, but was interested in it once because they catered to families.

The Marriott in Grand Cayman is a smaller Marriot complex. The beach is narrow, but GC is a great island, friendly, safe and easy to get around. Food is good, low-key island. I would feel safe taking my kids there alone at such young ages.

The important issue is feeling safe traveling with little ones and I agree that a smaller hotel complex is easier to keep tabs on everyone. The Atlantis above has lots of pools and slides, but would be crazy trying to run after small kids alone. Especially since the 8 year old would be able to do more slides than the 5 year old. I also dislike the Bahamas (nassau), but did enjoy our weekend at the atlantis.
