skyauction.com question
how legit is this? when we went to look at the website - i couldn't believe the deals. also, if they offer "quantity - 2", and it's a package deal with airlines, but it says "based on double occupancy" does that mean if you buy "quantity - 1" for two people (since double occupancy) will they also throw in two plane tickets? it's very confusing, just like this message!!!

Hi koontz

I think when it says double occupancy that you must buy 2. Email the help that they offer on their site. They are usually very accomodating.

I once put a bid in for something and told them I didn't want it. Luckily someone overbid, but they said they would help me out if no one did over bid me.

I learned my lesson though, and now only book when im absolutely positive.

Good luck

When a SkyAuction auction says that the bid is based on a per person, double occupancy (which it usually does when airfare is involved), you can do 1 of 2 things: bid on two packages and travel with someone, or bid on one package and pay the single supplement charge, which is always stated on the auction page.

Yes, the deals sound great at first (and can remain so), but you should note that there's a tax and service charge per person (or occasionally, per room for just hotel stay) that ranges from $149-198, which can up the cost of any package.

That said, I've successfully bid and won three packages. Two I've taken, and they were fine. No hitches at all. The third one I'll use in June 2003, and I don't anticipate any problems with it.

emailme with more concerns if you wish.

[email protected]

If you enter "SkyAuction" into the handy text search box at the top of the screen and press enter you'll find quite a few comments on SkyAuction.com.

I've taken three trips through SkyAuction and am taking my fourth Dec. 2003.

I have nothing but good things to say about them. All of my trips have been taken for at least 50% of what others paid.

That being said, you *must* read the fine print carefully. Taxes and service charges are clearly spelled out...remember to add these to what your total cost will be.

Also, find out what your trip would cost if you just bought it directly. Often people bid higher for items on SkyAuction than they could get from just purchasing it normally.

Lastly, be patient. The auctions repeat constantly. Set the max price you will pay and don't go higher than that. If you lose, the auction will come around again.

Email me directly if you want more info: [email protected]

Kevin
