Single Solo seeking advice on trip planning British Virgin Islands or Sabo
Am currently planning a 7 to 10 day trip to either British Virgin Islands or Netherlands Antilles in mid July. Objective is to plant myself on a beach and vegetate. Would like to check out scuba and snorkeling, but not a must. Want quiet and seclusion -- nightlife not a must. Appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Ronnie is correct. There are no beaches on Saba. Saba is very quiet and layed back. You will be in the hurricane season but you are more likely NOT to see a hurricane than you are. We stay at Timothy Beach Resort on St. Kitts which is a tad south of Saba. It is the only resort on the caribbean beach with excellent snorkling and diving. Restaurant and bar on the beach. TBR also has a hurricane preplan in affect for your safety. www.timothybeachresort.com

If quiet and seclusion are really very, very important, and miles of beach with no one but you are a part of that... then, yes, the BVI is the place, but Anegada is the island. It's a reef island, has a couple of decent small hotels, lots of lobster and good food, and is completely beach all the way around. Snorkle just about anywhere you can get your feet wet. Population a 100 or so, all simple buildings, corrugated roofs, etc., but the beer is cold and the people are friendly. There are several ways to get there from Tortola. My wife and I used an air charter that takes snorkelers out and back every day. Less than $100 r/t. No nightlife. A dozen or so tourists. No industry at all as far as I know, unless seclusion and a get-away-from-it-all constitutes industry. They do have electricity. Write me direct if you want more info. You might find it at bviwelcome.com and you can certainly do a search at Fodors.com, this forum, for Anegada. There have been some very good postings here a year or so ago.
