Single mid-20s in Jamaica needs advice

I will be in Jamaica over the x-mas holidays. I'm staying with my family in the montego bay ritz for 4 days but i was planning on coming 3 days early and staying on my own. i want to enjoy the beach life and have plenty of nightlife to partake in. so my first question is if i should go to negril or stay in montego bay for thos 3 extra days? Then given that i will be on my own and looking to meet people and have a good time what are some good hotels to stay at. my max is 150/night but i wouldn't mind something cheaper, especially since i'm going to be at the ritz after. and my final question is what are some fun places to go hear some dancehall and reggae. thanks.

You'll be lucky to find someplace this late for Christmas, esp.for only 3 days,in Negril. See SEA RANCH COTTAGE ($95/night) with transfer service and cook available on jamaicaescapes.com. It's at Bluefields Bay,1 hour equidistant from both MoBay and Negril and available until 24 Dec (then booked solid until 3 March).

Go to Negril and stay on the cliffs, but I think you will have a hard time finding an open room.
Try Rock House, it's great!

you will want to check out AFLREDS on the beach for ganja and music on the beach.

I agree with the poster who suggested go to Negril. There are great smaller and more affordable places to stay right ont he beach or the cliffs, it is a far prettier side of the island, has great nightlife right on the beach and just a super area.

For good info, jump over to www.negril.com
