Sights & activities in Nassau/Paradise Island.
Besides the obvious water sports, what are the recommended sights to see? Ardastra Gardens and Conservation Centre and the Retreat sound interesting, but with an admission cost of $12 at each location, I don't want to throw away my money for just another tourist trap. I've been to Nassau before on a cruise and did a tour, so I've already seen Fort Charlotte.

Lorraine: I would take in the Atlantis in late afternoon, spending the evening there, also. The underground aquarium and the grounds outside are simply incredible. I would forego the $25.00 tour and just wander on your own. Save the tour money and have dinner right next to the aquarium instead. The glass scuptures in the casino are valued at about $1,000,000 each, so do see them, also. Also, for about three dollars, you can take a water taxi to (near) Bay Street from Paradise Island. It's a nice trip.

For eating out, try the Johnny Canoe at the Hotel Nassau Beach and Dickie Moe's just a mile or so down from the Radisson.

Lorraine, the Ardastra Zoo and Gardens are a very nice place for an afternoon. The zoo is nicely laid out and there are alot of different animals and birds that you don't see everywhere.
Also the Flamingo March is really fun.
The last time I talked to the Manager of the Zoo (Dale) he told me they were going to do a "family pass" that would be good for a whole year, so check when you get there. So if you really like it you can go back for another visit.

The botanical garden is also in the same area and very inexpensive $1.00pp and we enjoyed just walking around.

You might also enjoy some of the historical places on Nassau like Government House and some of the government buildings and the museum on and right off Bay St.

Hope this helps a bit have a great trip.

gail
