What would be some good things to shop for in Grand Cayman wither because of the price or because you can't find it in the states?

Rum Cake! Also at the airport on your trip home they have the duty free that you can get great deals at. Due to the cost of everthing in the Caymans, I have to say I have never shopped LESS in my life.

jewelry! My fiance bought my engagement ring there (and proposed to me there too) and when we got back to the states, it appraised for nearly double.

Digital cameras... excellent selection better prices than midtown manhattan, and worldwide warranties.

Dive gear.... huge volumes mean low prices.... go to Divers Supply, that's where the divemasters buy their gear

Local Art... look around, various places have it.

Apart from duty free stuff, locally made things and dive gear, things are expensive, but sometimes in life you get what you pay for, and the intangibles of Cayman (clean streets, nobody hassling you on the beach, low crime rate).. give you a comfort and relaxation level you just don't find anywhere else.... just my opinion, your mileage may vary !

I think the assets described above are also found in Aruba as well and it cost alot less there too. This is not to take anything away from GC. Both have their unique charms. JM2C.
