shopping

In a week I will be going on a cruise and would like to know if anyone can tell me how far it would be to walk from the cruise ship to the shopping area in George Town, Grand Cayman and also Montego Bay, Jamaica. Thanks

If my memory serves me correctly, it's not too far at all from the tender to the shops and such in Georgetown. Keep in mind there is no pier there, so you have to talk off shore and take smaller boats in.

The ship tenders leave you off at the dock right in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. All you have to do is go across the street and you are at the shops.

Take a cab from the port into -- don't try to walk -- MoBay. The Gallery of West Indian Art (check it out online as well) is one great stop. Better yet, have a private guide/van meet you at dockside and go to places that will suit your shopping quest (fresh Cuban cigars, coffee, carvings, art are the buys here with lots of tourist tack to wade thru) and lunch out leisurely. For again, Carolyn Barrett at [email protected] is a good source;ask for her sampler. She works with many cruiseshippers.
