sharks at xel-ha

Do you think dangerous sharks (bull, tiger, etc.) could get into Xel-ha easily? I know that bull sharks like shallow water and do well in lagoons and in a mix or salt and fresh water.

There are never any guarantees, but last year there were a total of 62 shark attacks, with only 4 fatalities. Sharks don't enjoy humans as a food source. I'd be more alert when swimming off Florida beaches, for they had 23 shark attacks last year or about 37% of the world's total attacks, but with zero fatalities. For all those interested in shark attacks; i.e., stats, trends, how to reduce your chances of attack, etc. visit the website: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/ISAF/ISAF.htm Robert59

A couple more attacks (minor ones) were reported over the weekend on the Atlantic side of Florida (up by Ft Pierce). One kid and one adult were nipped but not injured seriously.

Yep, 37% of all world-wide reported shark attacks last year were off the Florida coast (23 out of 62). So glad none proved fatal, like these two recent reports. Robert59
