SHARKS???

The snorkeling sounds great. However have there been a flurry of shark attacks in the past year? Wasn't there a recent American who lost a leg ???

The bahamas has had numerous shark attacks. You only hear about it briefly. The locals try to keep it as hush-hush as possible in order not to scare away tourists. Last autumn while I vacationed in Abaco, a woman was bitten by a shark while swimming in shallow waters.

The Bahamas are not in the Caribbean though...anyone know of a shark attack this year in the Caribbean?

:)Liz

There is nothing to be afraid of!!

Please understand that the actual number of shark attacks is DOWN from last year according to an NBC news program. The media unfortunately has simply made light of a few attacks, and has the public running scared for no reason. People need to understand they stand a better shot at getting struck by lightning, or possibly winning the lottery before they will be attacked by a shark. Go enjoy yourself, and stop worrying.
