Sexism in Swimwear
Virtually all of the swimwear worn by women today is far more revealing than most of that which is worn by men. Seems like an example of how women are objectified for their sexuality.
(Appropriate for this forum b/c swimming and watersports are usually the major part of Caribbean vacations)

Personally, I think "an example of how women are objectified for their sexuality" would be if virtually all of the swimwear MADE for women is far more revealing than that which is MADE for men.
I've seen very modest & "unrevealing" swimwear made available on the market to both men and women - the fact that a majority of women WEAR this revealing swimwear is nobody's decision but their own. If these women choose to objectify themselves by wearing it, that's entirely their business.... nobody's got a gun to their heads.
I've also seen men wearing extremely revealing swimsuits, and some of these guys didn't have the body for it. Big deal.....people will wear what they're comfortable wearing - who are we to judge?
Oh, and your justification for the appropriateness of your post on this forum is weak....very weak.
Just my $0.02,
Tim

Noah, now you even have a typo in your name. What did you do, get the latest issue of Cosmo or are you just bored because you can't answer questions on the Carib from personal experience. GET A LIFE and let us have ours. When I see a young lady with the right shape for those revealing bathingsuits, all I am is jealous that I am not 25 anymore and never had the opportunity to look that great.

I personally believe that this kind of stuff is what makes the world go around. Let's face it, people have different tastes, styles, personalities, etc. Women or men who wear revealing clothing most likely feel good about themselves and have the body to show it off.
It's the beach for god's sake, lets be relaxed about this whole thing. Who cares?

1. I agree that it wouldn't be unreasonable to consider my justification for posting this a stretch or 'weak'.
2. It's not a typo:
"'Noach' is my first name, the Hebrew version of 'Noah'. I actually use both versions of the name. I like to use 'Noach' but for official purposes, and with people who have trouble pronouncing 'Noach' , I use 'Noah'. Since I have been using 'Noach' on Usenet, I decided to start using it here as well for the sake of consistency. "
-From my post 'The Greatness of Kaua`i' on the U.S. forum.
3. Remarq is a way to access Usenet. I have posted to several Usenet groups, many times from Remarq.
Don't know what you mean by 'Looksmart'

I'll use this as an opportunity to say that the women's swimwear business is awful for larger sized women. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I have found only one place that has conservative swimwear that actually fits large women, land's end, and sometimes they don't even have the stuff in stock, and they're really expensive for the suits that are for larger women. It's really sad and I'm really angry about this!

Well, if you "did" c/o you wouldn't even have to worry about the suits!!! LOL When posts need to state the justification for posting, I suggest that the poster go back and think ... "Do I really want to post it?" and answer, "NO!" Maybe Noach can seek therapy for his problems with sexuality and/or nudity ... I wonder if his congregation allows women to sit with the men yet or even counts them for minions? Talk about sexist!! But I divert and should take my own advice ... in the meantime, if someone is comfortable in whatever they choose to wear, or not, that's their decision! And if we choose to look and react, that is ours!

Allright, so maybe this post was inappropriate. Doesn't make me a bad person. Was it worst than an Ad. or vulgar, obscene post? It was a very short post and if you didn't like it, you could have just ignored it. Despite the fact that many of you claim otherwise, most of my posts are clearly travel-related and appropriate.
The reaction of many was out of proportion to the 'offense' but I realize that it makes many of you feel good to pile-on and attack someone.
