Seven Stars, Regent Palms or The somerset w/ 4 yr old

Hello,

My husband and I and our almost 4 year old would like to go to Turks and Caicos in November and, at this point, I've narrowed down the choices to Seven Stars, the Regent Palms and The Somerset. The rates for an ocean view one bedroom at all 3 properties are not too far apart from each other to make cost a critical deciding factor. But the kids clubs, which we'll want to take advantage of, at Seven Stars and The Somerset are complimentary; I'm not sure about The Regent Palms.

My questions are:

If you were choosing between an ocean view one bedroom suite at each of these resorts, which would you choose?

Can anybody compare the kids club at each of these resorts for young children (again my daughter will be almost 4 at the time of the trip)? Does anyone know if the Regent Palms' kids club is also complimentary?

A garden view one bedroom suite at Seven Stars (which i prefer over the looks of the Somerset garden view villas) would be a decent price reduction over the ocean view suites at these resorts. Has anyone stayed in a garden view 1 bedroom suite at Seven Stars? I can't find any photos online of that type of unit specifically.

Finally, all the properties look very pretty. But I like that Seven Stars has outdoor dining for dinner that overlooks the ocean. Do the other properties have this?

Thanks for reading!

We have stayed at The Regent Palms ( Honeymoon) love it--great service, world class spa, wonderful staff. While on the island we checked out The Somerset and have since gone 2 or 3 times/year and stayed at Somerset. Love the suites, the garden view villas are beautiful and very roomy. I think kids clubs are free at all ..the pool at Somerset would be best for your daughter...zero entry. Somerset has a pool side restaurant that looks out to the ocean as does The Regent Palms. Regarding Oceanview I'd also pick the Somerset (our 1st stay was in the Sterling building, since then the Garden Villas have fit us well--we are at the beach all day) and the view out over the pool was stunning night or day.

PS - we ate at Seven Stars this past winter and it was the worst meal of our trip!

All 3 are great and have their pluses.

Regent Palms has the prettiest spa in Caribbean, on the cover of numerous travel magazines. Gorgeous property. It is the friendliest for families (kids) of the 3. It is a designer crowd that does look nice by the pool. I believe they do charge for kids club. I've never seen anyone use it. You need a car for the better restaurants ( or taxi, but costs more than car) for best prices, they should be listed on their website.

Somerset is the prettiest architecture on the island. The zero entry infinity pool is terrific for kids. Rooms are gorgeous. Again, need transportation tovthe better restaurants, although you can walk next door to one of the best, Bay Bistro. Tuesday night beach BBQ bonfires are terrific. I found 20% off on ascent destinations.com. Don't know if the sale is still ongoing, doesn't hurt to ask.

Seven Stars is in the middle of the hub. Across from really nice supermarket, small shopping strips and numerous restaurants, but still need transportation for the better restaurants. Rooms are huge and really luxurious. The Deck beach bar has the best atmosphere with live mellow music most nights, which is nice since you have a young one. There are tiki torches, Couches, fire pits, reall cool. The have Sunday beach BBQ with bonfires. If on Facebook, "like" them for exclusive sales. They just had a huge one, so call them directly tell them you liked them on FB, see if they can offer you anything.

All 3 are nice. Once you're there, check out the other 2 for future visits!

It's hard to decide when there's not a bad place to stay! If yo

Sorry, cut off

If you go for ocean view rooms, all 3 are gorgeous. If considering garden view, then I would take regent palms out of the mix.

Somerset and Regent Palm are your best bets.

Blamona,
I'm not the OP, but I just wanted to thank you for those clear and concise descriptions on this and other threads.

I also wanted to let Katherine4 know that Seven Stars is running a 40% off promotion right now on bookings from October - December. I just booked through turksandcaicosreservations.com, which throws in a 2-day car rental and other goodies.

Good luck!

Seven Stars offered a complimentary shuttle while I was there the summer before last and it got us pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. We didn't rent a car. You wouldn't be able to get as far as Conch Shack and places like that, but you could rent for a day or two.

No more shuttle at 7 Stars--taxi commission put a stop to it!

Hi Kathryn. I will be in Turks and Caicos in Sept with my young children as well. We're planning on either the Regent or the Somerset. My daughter is almost 4. I will let you know how our experience is.
