Secrets?
 

I am wondering if anyone has been to the secrets resort in punta cana lately and how you liked it. The resort was recomended by a travel agent and I am curious about the DR since it is much less expensive than some other options. Any advice appreciated! We would be going from Nov 13-23rd.

We were at Secrets in Punta Cana about a year ago and loved it.
They are changing management in October. It will be managed by the owners and supposed will be called Excellence, rather than Secrets Excellence.

Thank you, someone also mentioned in my other thread (honeymoon) that it will no longer be a couples only resort so I think it is out of the running! Thanks!

It is my understanding that Excellence WILL remain Adults Only. The only changes I've read are for the better. Addtional restaurants, etc.

Really? I emailed them to see what they have to say about it. If that is the case I still want to go there...I hope they answer shortly! Thanks!

We were there a year or so ago and loved it as well. It is a bit out of the way, but worth the bus ride. The rooms were very nice , food was excellent and the beach gorgeous, though the water was a bit rough. The DR has been a favorite european vacation spot for years. Some US travellers are just catching on!! We have been to Punta Cana and La Romana 5 times over the last few years; we have seen the prices rise considerably over time and expect they will continue to do so as it gains popularity. There are some very nice luxury hotels being built now, so you know its popularity as a vacation spot will continue to grow!

My boyfriend & I went to Secrets Excellence last November. We Absolutely loved it!!! The beaches are beautiful. We did not think the water was too ruff. It’s great for boogy boarding! If you don’t like the beach well then you will love the pools! The food was good, but you can’t expect it to be as good as what we are use to in the US. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Since then we have gotten engagement and are thinking of doing our wedding there. Hope this helps!

Very interesting about Secrets being sold...hmnn.. There are several others being planned in the D.R, including a Dreams The D.R. is sadly no longer a hidden secret from Americans...much less $$ than Mexico.. We are going back to the same resort for the 5th time in February...All our winter vacations in the past years have been in the D.R.

Secrets Excellence was NOT sold. THey just changed the management company. The owners are now going to manage Excellence in Punta Cana and Mexico. Secrets Capri will continue with the old management company.
Everything that I've read says that they will remain adults only resorts.
