Secluded falls excursion

My husband and I are planning to stay in Negril Jamaica buy would like to see waterfalls while on our vacation. Are there any falls that are more secluded and less "touristy" than Dunn's River Falls, and also closer to Negril? Also, how long of a drive from Negril and how much money to get there?

Yes there are. Closest and quietest would be Mayfield Falls - just over an hour away.

Next would be YS Falls, about 2 hours away.

Mayfield is a little more strenuous in that you walk along and in the river for awhile. My 3 year old daughter did it with the help of our guide so it's not too bad, and certainly easier than Dunn's.

Mayfield is NOTHING like Dunn's - no human chains, no huge shopping hassle as you leave. I saw less than 10 people when we were there, but Mayfield is long enough that 100 could have been there and we could have not seen them all.

Mayfield falls are beautiful and quiet. We were a group of six and there was maybe another group of four in front of us. That's it! The guides know every rock on those falls and are great. Before you start your climb you can order lunch and have it waiting for you when you're done. My fiance had the lobster and said it was great.

We actually wanted to go to Dunn's River but our driver recommended these falls to us and I'm so glad he did.

Mayfield Falls is located on a 5 Acre plot of land, Mayfield Falls is a great spot to relax in one of the natural Jacuzzis, cave diving or just enjoy the world of a fastastic waterfall. Swim through an underwater cave and lots of jamaica secrets. The cost is $78.00. I think you leave at about 8:00 am and return about 3:00 pm. If you would like an excursion sheet just email me.

Actually the cost to get into Mayfield Falls was $10 per person when we were there. What will cost more is a driver and that depends totally on how long you plan to stay at the falls, who you hire, if you bargain, if you want to stop along the way or do somehting else after....or if you take an organized tour instead of hiring a driver/guide.

We paid $60 to our driver (who also took us hiking elsewhere on the same trip for about 2 hours) and $20 to get into the falls and tipped our falls/river guide $20. You have the option when you arrive of ordering a meal that will be ready when you're back from hiking/swimming/climbing the falls.
