Sandy Lane or Parrot Cay?

I'm planning ahead for a my 40th birthday celebration in November. I'm hooked on Hawaii and go there every year (JWMarriott, Kea Lani, Princeville), but am willing to try something in the Caribbean for the first time. Sandy Lane, Parrot Cay or something else? A nice spa, good service and food are essential. Also, will I miss the hurricanes in late November?

My first reply did not post - so here it is again:

Sandy Lane is THE BEST resort in Barbados. If you go there, expect to be pampered. The hotel and spa are brand new & gorgeous. It's the "ultimate" in luxury.

We just returned from a cruise and spent a day in Barbados on Cranes Beach. Took a long walk and saw Sandy Lane. It looked fabulous!! It is on a stretch of beautiful beach. I would not hestitate in choosing Sandy Lane. Late November? Difficult to comment on that one. Late Dec. would be better I suppose but I went on a cruise once in late Nov. and had no problems.

Interessting choice. If you want to be out and about with dining choices, activity and an island to explore, Barbados is delightful. Sandy Lane is beautiful and certainly high end with all the amenities. You can also opt for day trips into the Grenadines from Barbados.
Parrot Cay is an "island" onto itself. If I were choosing PC, I'd opt for the beachfront accomodations rather than the main building. You are also confined to their dining much with a Pacific Rim influence but the spa services are wonderful. Great snorkeling and diving on the reefs but certainly a more isolated environment than Sandy Lane. The later in November the better since the hurricane season ends Dec 1 but November is generally not a big month for them. You might also want to look at Cap Juluca on Anguilla

Also look into Four Seasons in Nevis.
My husband & I have been to Hawaii, CAP, Parrot Cay & Four Seasons in Nevis. We preferred the FS, because beautiful landscape , nice room, good spa/resort service & good food. Also, Nevis is a tropical/secluded island. However, CAP(Anguilla) has a nicer beach.

Without hesitation....Sandy Lane has it all, you should miss hurricanes in late November. If you choose Sandy Lane be sure (make reservations now!) to go to a restaurant called The Cliffs, service and atmosphere beyond description. The combination of Sandy Lane and The Cliffs will make your 40th one you'll want to re-live over and over again.
I hope this helps.

jayded1
