Sandas Halcyon for an older couple?
 

We are planning our spring break and have never stayed at a Sandals resort. Will we stick out like a sore thumb at Sandals among the honeymooners?<BR>We went to Arub last year and loved the beach. Will we be disappointed in St. Lucia?

Rita, you didn't say how old you were. My husband and I went to the other Sandals in St. Lucia a few years ago at spring break time. We were 47 &amp; 51 at the time. While most of the guests were in their late 20's, early 30's, there were a few other couples around our age. We made friends with couples of all ages, but had more in common with those closer to our age. We had a great time.

All of the Sandals seem to have lots of honeymooners, but there are plenty of middle-agers there as well.<BR><BR>Concerning St. Lucia, I am going to recommend you stay at the new Sandals Grande St. Luican. I visited all 3 on my last trip and this one, by far, has the prettiest beach and way nicer grounds. I just didn't like Halcyon thas much.....of coarse you are allowed to use all 3 properties. Rita - I forgot to mention:<BR><BR>The beaches in St. Lucia aren't those gorgeous white sand, bright blue cabbibean type beaches....the sand is darker due to the island being of a volcanic nature.<BR><BR>I would say Jamaica, Barbados and Antugua have far better beaches. Just thought I'd mention. Those brochures can be really misleading....<BR><BR>

Rita, St. Lucia is not known for it's beaches. Like the previous poster said, it is a volcanic island so the beaches are going to be more of the dark sand. It will have an amazing lush/tropical feel to it with rainforests etc.<BR><BR>If you're looking for a great beach, check out Sandals Antigua. We were married there 3 months ago and we loved the resort. It has great landscaping, an amazing beach with white, powder-like sand, beautiful aquamarine water and incredible sunsets! The resort has a real laid back feeling to it and is like having your own Caribbean village to hang out in. There did seem to be a lot of honeymooners there, but we met couples of all ages. The resort is so spread out that you have your own space and NO ONE sticks out like a sore thumb. We loved the island too, the locals were great.<BR><BR>Have any questions, feel free to ask! <BR>Have you considered the Jalouise Hilton in the Southwest of St. Lucia? It's a magnificent &amp; tropical property in between the Pitons. I just returned from my honeymoon there and there were a good diversity of people...some celebrating 35 anniversary, 9 year anniversary, engagements, friendship, etc. After seeing a lot of the island, I really feel the Jalouise was in the most spectacular location of all. The service was great too. You can get web fares that are very reasonable.<BR><BR>Good luck and enjoy a wonderful place!<BR><BR>

Sandals is perfect for all age groups. I think its a great choice, we have loved all the Sandals resort we have been at and the Sandals in St. Lucia. Email me if you have any ?'s.

Thank you for all the replies to my question re Halcyon. I am now reconsidering our trip and am looking into St Kitts. Have any of you ever booked using Expedia?
