Sandals Royal or Negril - Which?

Which resort would you recommend for an active couple, mid-30's?

Which Royal The Royal Jamaican or the Royal Bahamian?

Sorry about that. I mean the Royal Jamaican. Actually I think they changed the name back to the Royal Caribbean.

Thanks for the help!

Both resorts are very nice. Sandals Royal Caribben is very close to the airport and has a more formal feel. Negril of course is an 11/2 bus ride or 20 minute flight from Montego Bay. Negril is much more active and sports geared. Since you say that you are active I would think you might be happier at Sandals Negril. Lot of sports and you can dive even if you are not certified they will give you a resort course. My husband did that and loved it. Let us know where you go and how you liked it. I know you will enjoy which ever you do.

I think you will have much more fun at Sandals Negril. We were there and loved it, not as stuffy as the Royal Caribbean. Negril is very laid back and and do as you please but lots of things to do like Dixie said.

Another + for Negril is that Hedonism II is there and you can get a day pass and make your next vacation a REALLY fun one :-)

(Over 30 nights at the Hedo resorts in the last 20 mos)

Travel Buff
VIP Discount Travel

I have to respond to the last reply. We did visit Hedonism and by no means am I "a prude" I came out of there with a whole new look on monogamy. I thought it was one big swapfest their. Im glad to be married and faithful to one man for 25 yrs.. That kind of vacation would not be for me, but I will not judge anyone else. Whatever floats your boat, if it was my boat I would let it sink!!

We just got back from Sandals Negril on Sunday. Our honeymoon was wonderful, the oceanfront rooms are well worth it. The staff is extremely courteous and the watersports instructors very fun and encouraging. We briefly visited Montego Bay Sandals on our way home and felt very good about our decision after spending that afternoon in Montego Bay.

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like Negril is the place. We've booked a 10 day visit to Sandals Negril and also decided to fly from MoBay to Negril after some rather bad reports of the trip by shuttle.

Sharon have a wonderful time ! You should experience the bus ride from the airport once. We love it their and plan on returning in Feb of 2002. We are spending a week in St. Lucia (Sandals this Feb). Enjoy your trip great choice!

We just returned from our fourth stay at Royal C. It is so nice to be at the resort in 10 minutes. We have never found it at all stuffy, and this time it was very casual. I liked it a bit more formal, myself. You can also go over to Sandals Montego Bay. Both have good evening entertainment and good restaurants.
