Looking for advice on where to stay. We had origialy booked SRC but we are thinking of changing to Montego Bay. We will be there for 10 days and it seems like SRC my be boring. Any advice or comments about either property are appreciated. Thanks

Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals<BR>Montego Bay have a completely different<BR>atmosphere. Sandals Montego Bay has <BR>the best beach in Jamaica. it offers<BR>ver upbeat, activie atmosphere. SRC <BR>offers a British OldmWorld charm, a<BR>more elegent appearl to it. The two <BR>resorts are only ten minutes away from<BR>each other. Your might want to divide<BR>your stay between two Sandals Resort.<BR>Atmosphere is completely different with<BR>each Sandals Resort. Beaches Royal <BR>Planation In Ocho Rios is offering an <BR>exceptional value (most deluxe of all <BR>the Beaches/Sandals Resorts). Please<BR>e-mail me with any questions. I have <BR>been to all the Sandals/Beaches Resorts<BR>and will be happy to answer your questions, I am a Sandals Certified<BR>Specialist.

While the above post IS a little self serving. She is correct that MoBay and RC have competely different atmospheres. MoBay tends to be a younger, more active group, while RC is a bit more liad back. We have stayed at both and have enjoyed both. Biggist drawback to MoBay is that it is RIGHT at the end of the airport runway. Planes taking off are only 100 feet or so in the air when they pass over! VERY LOUD! My advice would be to keep your reservation at SRC and take the shuttle over to MoBay. It's free and they are only about 10 minutes apart. They run from around 9 am to midnight once an hour. You can then relax at SRC when you want and party at MoBay when you have the urge.

jajim - when was the last time you were at Sandals Royal Caribbean? We were there last December and left after the 1st day - the food was so bad we couldn't feed it to the cats!! Ended up call the Ritz Carlton and the price was not that different - but the resort was truly a 5 Star!!!

I think it really depends onwhat you are looking for inthe resort. Sandals Royal is more laid back but not lacking things to do. They offer the same activities as Sandals MoBay but jsut not as active.<BR><BR>If you find it is too quite, then take the shuttle over to MoBay, which is a nice resort but different in feel - not bad nor good! Just different.

Just curious why you're staying in MoBay for 10 days? I'd go down to Negril or even out to Dunn's/Ochi for that lenght of time..

I AGREE! WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO SPENT <BR>10 NIGHTS IN A RESORT 5 OR 10 MINUTES<BR>FROM THE AIRPORT.<BR><BR>I HAVE BEEN TO BEACHES ROYAL PLANTATION<BR>AND LOVE IT, IT IS THE MOST DELUXE OF <BR>ALL THE SANDALS/BEACHES.

I have been to "Mo Bay" Sandals twice and would go again. We are middle aged and never felt out of place. The SRC was a bit too stuffy for our likes. The beach is man made, not real but has a better pool due to this. MoBay has an absolutely awesome beach!! Pools are a bit smaller. MoBay also has more restaurants. The Italian is the best. We did visit SRC both times we were there but would never stay there. We dined at the island restaurant one night and enjoyed that. But the atmosphere at SRC is not as casual as MOBay. If you just want to relax and chill and enjoy an beautiful beach and not having to dress up if you don't want then choose MoBay. (The planes are no big deal, after a while you don't even notice them, if 5 a day went over ahead I would be suprised. Besides after a few of thier wonderful drinks you don't notice any planes!!) If you want a more proper atmosphere and want to dress up then choose SRC. They really are quite different...you may email me if you...

I would not spend 10 days in Montego Bay!

I would say to stay away. BUT, that depends on what you are looking for. We went to the Beaches Royal Plantation and it was awesome. Food and service were incredible and there were only 80 rooms and only 106 people at the time we were there. If you are at that property, you have the chance to go to all Sandals and Beaches on the island. We went to the Sandals Ocho Rios for dinner and it was a pit. I guess we were just snobs from next door. The service was so-so and we were overdressed! Hubby was in khaki shorts and a linen shirt, while i was in a tube dress. We had an incident with the hotel (robbed while we slept) and had to go to the Embassy in Mo Bay. They transfered us to the Sandals Mo Bay and here's what we found. The property is at the end of the airport runway, where at least 10-15 planes take off per day. They made it a big joke by waving at all of the planes while they went over. I felt so sorry for the couple reciting their vows while the plane went over. The room wasn't all that clean. I took a shower and the water went from steaming hot to freezing cold and you couldn't take a shower while someone above you or next door was taking one. We decided to hit the beach while the sun was out (it rained the entire trip) and I went to get some drinks. I felt like I was in college again. The smell of dried beer was rampant and when I asked for some strawberry daiquris, the bartender asked if I wanted rum. Uh, I didn't ask for a virgin! As I walked back to the beach, several of the street peddlers on their kayaks tried to get my attention. Had a seat and was SO tempted to take part in the activity at the pool bar. Someone was banging on a trash can yelling "Body Shots!!" I am not a stick in the mud, but I was on my honeymoon! We had dinner at the party outside and it was pretty discusting. I kid you not, there were at least 10 desserts and I couldn't name a single one but vision or taste! <BR>My advice is to rethink your decision if you are looking for a romantic vacation. If you are looking to party with tons of people (that Sandals has 246 rooms) then that may be the place for you. Despite being robbed and rain, the Beaches Royal Plantation is amazing. Other than that, you might consider going to Mexico or another island, just really investigate the Sandals thing. <BR>Sorry this is so long and I hope I didn't burst your bubble, but I certainly don't want someone else to have the same experience, especially not on their honeymoon!<BR><BR>

Two very different resorts. SRC is not very exciting. MB is a riot we loved it and will be back there soon. SRC too boring for us.email me if you have any ?'s

10 days is too long at these resorts, why don't you combine it with a stay at the upscale Strawberry Hill?

stephanie Jun 19th, 2002 11:52 AM

Why not do a Lido Sampler? Spend half the time at Lido Negril and the other at either Sans Souci or Braco?<BR>They certainly beat Sandals any day!!<BR>Better service, food, drinks that are drinkable and they even do your laundry.<BR>I don't think you would be disappointed with any of the 3 Lido properties.
