Sandals Rooms
Okay,
I've seen all the positive and negative Sandals reports, but for my fiance and I, we like the idea of a bigger resort with more activities, so we're leaning towards it.

Can anyone recommend rooms? Price is an issue, but we also don't want to be stuck in a closet...

Thanks!

My husband and I stayed at Sandals Jamaica for our honeymoon 4 years ago and we were very pleased. The staff was extremely friendly. The room was more than enough in size. Hope this helps you some.

Thank you for the response, I should have mentioned we're looking at the Sandals Antigua specifically.

Hi Billy. I have not been to Sandals Antigua but am getting married there this October, which I'm really looking forward to. Anyways...I have done a lot of research and all of the comments that I have seen about the rooms or the resort is that there is not a bad location on the property. And a lot of times you are offered an upgrade. So I wouldn't worry about the room size if you book the lowest category, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

We were just there and received an automatic upgrade. At first we thought cool, but as we were led to the farthest location from the beach and up 20 steps and then around a bend and up more, we thought whoa! But the room was great. A very high 4 poster king bed with a step stool to get on it. Ample drawers, tv, fridge, hair dryer, coffee pot etc. It had a small couch and desk, and balcony..you will want a second story room. But we were going to change rooms to be closer to the beach until some people in those rooms said they were very small. Our room was the same distance to the main pool as the beach rooms were. Each group of rooms has its own pool. Everything was great. All the fun was in the main pool area which was in the center of the complex/ The beach was not close to our room but not too far either.
Be sure to bring creme rinse...your hair dries out quickly. They give you aloe vera gel, body lotion, shampoo, and shower gel so no need to pack those.
Make your reservations for dinner on your way to breakfast and you will always get the restaurant you want.
Join the games if you are up to it. We met a lot of people and had a great time.

Sandals Antigua is one of those resorts that except for one block (the one nearest the front drive, block 15 - least attractive view), you can really book any level to save. You should be fine with the Grand Lux Honeymoon in the Oleander Block - great pool right there, nice view form the second floor level. You can specifially request what floor and block you want so this one is the better in this level. If you want to go lower, the premiium rooms are faine - they are basically all the same beleow concierge jsut get a tad larger.

IF you want to go concierge, the lowest level, cocnierge room on the lbuffs is relaly the best - excellent location, beautiful views and very priavte but again, request second floor.

I do have a good agent (from the web) that offers great prices - will try to beat any you have already gotten - jsut email me for the site.

Penney

DId you get that Billy?
Be sure to bring creme rinse for your hair.
It'll dry out quickly and you can't be seen with dried out hair!
|
Well since I am bald as a bowling ball dry hair is no issue...more interested in seeing all those hot honeys in their thong bikinis jiggling down the beach. Now THAT might dry me out.
|
Some people really have too much time on their hands. To those of you who HAVN'T impersonated me and have actually provided great info, thank you. :)
|
To Mike
Anon was being helpful. My wife wishes someone had told us the creme rinse tip, as her hair was hurting after all the sun and salt on our last vacation. You are unkind and not willing to view a comment as positive.
To anon:
Can you give some information as to the types of clothing to bring and availability of sailboats, waiting time for them, etc.? And my wife agrees about the creme rinse tip.
|
Also, what is a good price for jetski rental? I am prepared to negotiate, but what should my goal price be?

Thanks!
|
I paid $60 for 40 minutes in the Bahamas recently...Paradise Island.
|
Sorry, we did not jet ski although it was readily available at a place called Tony's I think, right next to sandals on the right as you face the water. Friends paid $35 for 30 minutes I think, but I can't be sure. I know there was a reduced rate if you got 2. We were too busy with the free waterskiing right in front all a.m. and p.m. and the hobies and kyacks. Also we were enjoying some of the crazy pool and beach games!(Sorry no one liked the creme rinse tip!)
