Sandals Negril or Sandals Emerald Bay?
My husband and I are planning a trip the first week in March (2012) with 3 other couples. Any opinions on which Sandals is better? And does anyone know what the weather is like in the Bahamas at that time? I've heard conflicting reports that it's chilly. Being able to get in the water is a must!

Sandals Negril is one of their very first Sandals and is pretty old. Doesn't have all the upgraded amenities as some of their newer properties. Sandals Emerald Bay is brand new with all butler service. I would go with Emerald Bay over Negril.
Check the reviews on Trip Advisor for both resorts. Not sure I could do the Bahamas in March. I am very cold natured. We went to Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau in a September and the weather was great.

Yes, of the only two choices you're offering, Negril is the best bet for warm weather and water. The water in the Bahamas in early March is bearable but a little cool for my taste. But The Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay is also worth considering. It has a breathtaking beach and a little private island, and it's been updated with the most recent amenities.
For what it's worth, Sandals Grande in St. Lucia is building some overwater bungalows (almost unique in the Caribbean). But I don't know if they'll be ready by March.

Are you absolutely set on Negril in Jamaica? If not, look at the Jewell Dunn's River in Ocho Rios instead. It used to be a Sandals and was changed last year to the Jewell. Better prices than Sandals and getting really great reveiws on TA. We are going there in December.
If you're set on Negril, I would go with either Couples Negril or Sunset at the Palms.
We loved St. Lucia, but did not care for the Sandals Grande. They have made many structual improvements since our visit, but our issues were with service and food quality. Pretty bad for a hotel that advertises themselves at such a high caliber.
