Sandals in St. Lucia
Has anyone stayed at either of the Sandals in St. Lucia? Were you pleased with the accomodations and activities? Did you get your money's worth?

We were at the Sandals that is just outside of town, the bigger of the two. It was very nice. The food was excellant - 6 restaurants, if I remember correctly. Beach was washed away a bit but we were told it was just quirky that the weather had such big waves rolling in for some time. Both places have great grounds and pools. Golf at the one we stayed. It was a bit better than a par 3. Very difficult course. Everybody was very friendly. At the resort and on the island. A must - see the marketplace downtown on Saturday.

I went to St. Lucia for my honeymoon! My husband and I loved it there!! We stayed at the Sandals Halcyon. The staff is about as friendly as you can get. The other Sandals resort is about 1/2 ride-we went and spent a day there. There isn't much difference except they have a couple more restaurants and more people. (It's much more crowded than Halcyon) I definately recommend it for a vacation/honeymoon!! The natives are even nicer than the Sandals staff and the island outside the resort is beautiful!!!!! Please email me if you want to know more.

My wife and I stayed at Sandals St Lucia for a week over New Years Eve weekend in 1995. It was one the best and funnest trips we have done. We stayed in the suite at the top of the hill with a private pool and loved it. The staff was some of the best we have found. We met several other couples and hung out all week with them - and still keep in touch. This is Sandals premier property - it is expensive but well worth the money if you want to go 1 st all the way.
We went to Sandals Halcyon for the day a dinner and wouldn't stay there - but dinner was OK. As a side note we booked Sandals Royal Bahamian for New Years 1999 and they want $21,000 + for 7 nite stay - I guess they think they can gouge for the nite of the century - even though we do everything 1st class - this price is crazy!! - any ideas on a reasonable priced New Years trip?? |
My wife and I stayed in St. Lucia for 3 weeks in 96
and Sandles is nice, but you would find it much more romantic if you stayed at the anse chastanet in the Soufriere, rain forest area. The northen part of St. Lucia is not as lush as this area. Room 5A has a 3 way view of the town, Pitons mts, and the carib sea. If you want to do the sandles thing, then just go there and pay 50.00 US for the day, I can tell you that we did that, and glad that we stayed in the soufriere area. You can always get a boat to take you to castries for the sat. market (don't miss). good luck Lee S |
Kevin, I saw your posting about the suite @ Sandals. Hey I just got finished watching "Road Rules" on MTV and they featured this suite with the private pool. I thought maybe I could find something on the internet about it, and look!!! Sounds like the same place to me. Did it look like a house and have a few bedrooms? Private Pool and what else? I am in California so if I use this location for my honeymoon (do you recommend it?) how much should I start planning on spending? It won't be on a prime night like yours was so I don't plan on getting ripped off, if you know what I mean? Let me know all you remember and have the time to relate, both pro and con. I really appreciate this. Did you happen to see the episode I am talking about. It was at the least good advertising for them. How surprizing to find someone right away that stayed there. |
Wife and I had an excellent time at Sandals St Lucia. We stayed eight days at the one with the golf course, although we visited two days to Halcyon. If I had a choice, I'd stay where we stayed. Facilities at Halcyon seemed dated. Beaches were decent (few beaches are what they used to be ten years ago). Food was excellent both places. Outstanding pool, romantic grounds, best staff at an all-inclusive that I've ever encountered. The extra money for Sandals St Lucia is well worth it; however, if you're on a budget, stay at Sandals Halcyon and communute to Sandals St Lucia. Either case, go to orientation immediately and make sure you sign up at the restaurants immediately upon arrival. I don't like to "plan" on vacation, but if you don't, restaurant seatings will be 5:30 or 9:30 (and you can't tip the maitre'd into a 7:30 sitting - how I missed NYC!)
