San Juan to St. Barth's??
Here's another question regarding air transportation to St. Barth's. Does anyone know if there are flights from San Juan directly to St. Barth's or do you still have to go through St. Martin?

You must change planes in St. Martin. The key is to avoid Puerto Rico. Fly non-stop from wherever to St. Martin if possible (like from NYC) then catch the puddle jumper.

why avoid Puerto Rico?

I agree. Fly non-stop, if possible, to SXM, then go on to St. Barth's. No particular reason to avoid SJU, other than it makes for an even longer day with an unnecessary stop.

You MUST, however, go thru SXM to get to St. Barth's, unless you are on a charter. Even people on the local islands have to go thru SXM to get there.

Have fun!

You used to be able to fly direct from San Juan to SBH, but alas, no longer, unless you charter a plane (approx. $1500-$2,000 round trip). I agree with other posters, the best route is from a major city to St.Maarten, simply for an easier trip and one less plane.

We always use points so the only way for us is through Puerto Rico. We've never had a problem but it does add a few hours and another flight.

Oh well, it's worth it to get to our piece of paradise.
