San Juan, Puerto Rico for 3 nights
DH and I are planning to travel to San Juan this Friday for 3 nights. We certainly want to do the bio bay. From all my research it seems that Vieques is more popular than Fajardo. If Fajardo is as good, we would rather do that. We don't mind not swimming in the bay. Here is what we plan to do:
Day 1: Reach San Juan by 2:00 PM. Relax at the hotel, and visit Old San Juan.
Day 2: Do the bio bay trip in the evening. we are planning Fajardo, but it you think Vieques makes more sense, we'll do that.
Day 3: Rainforest hiking in the morning, visit Old San Juan in the evening, or just spend time at the beach.
Day 4 : Return back
We are not planning to rent a car. Do we need to? Staying at the Ritz. Plan to take plenty of sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Anything else?

Based on your itinerary, you would not need to rent a car if you plan on doing tours to the rainforest and bio bay. If you plan on exploring on your own, then you will need a car.
(I just got back from the Ritz Carlton last night).

The Ritz was very nice. I have stayed there numerous times over the last ten years and have never had any significant issues with the property. I had heard something about a dengue fever outbreak this year but to be honest, I didn't really pay much attention. I can't ever remember even getting a mosquito bite in all the times I have been to Puerto Rico. However, if you are doing the rainforest and bio bay, just bring repellant and you should be fine.

Thanks. I do plan to bring repellent, and some light weight long sleeve clothes. I think it will be okay. We've never been to Puerto Rico before, so if there is anything else you can add that will be great.

I would definitely recommend a day trip to Culebra, the beach (Flamenco)is out of this world! I did not find much in Old San Juan to visit twice, I would go there one day, the day you arrive should be fine. Maybe you could do the Rain Forest & the BioBay on the same day?
