San Juan Hotel Puerto Rico
I am considering 2 hotels in the San Juan area. Any thoughts on the difference in the 2 would be appreciated. The 2 are both Wyndham's. One is the Condodo Plaza, and the other Old San Juan. We would like to be on the beach. They both look as though they are on the beach with the exception of Old San Juan. Not sure about that one. We would like a nice pool area. We are not interested in the casino part. We will have no children, with us, we are adults in our early 40's. We will be staying 4 days.Thanks.

My friend, if you like the beach you should forget about the Old San Juan one. Condado Plaza has beach and pool and is at El Condado area. close to the Old City. Another Wyndham is El San Juan Hotel in Isla Verde, nice pool and beaches close to it.There are good restaurants close to them.
If you need more info. just e-mail me back. There are a lot of things to do in 4 days.
Wyndham in OSJ is NOT on the beach - It's where the cruise ships come in.
|
Thanks for your replies. It is very appreciated. I will stick with the Wyndham Condodo one. All of the names are very similar they seem to all be Wyndham etc.
|
The Condado has a very small beach next to it. Water is very calm as the beach is on a protected inlet. Since it is small it can be quite crowded. If there isn't much of a price differential, you might consider the Wyndam El San Juan in Isla Verde.

The El San Juan hotel is a better hotel than the Condado plaza (better restaurants, better nightlife and better beach). The Condado Plaza has a small beach next to the Condado lagoon, while El San Juan has Isla Verde beach, which is much bigger.

If you really want to stay in the El Condado area, I'd recommend the Caribe Hilton (awesome little beach) and great nightlife too.

Enjoy...

I thank you for your thoughts suggesting others than the 2 I commented on originally. There was a price object involved and this is why I did not consider the others you mention. The time frame denotes a high price. I have even considered smaller ones outside of the main hotel chains, but no one seems to know anything about any of those. I need to act soon, because obvioulsy hotels will be filling up fast.

which smaller hotels are you considering?
|
Numero Uno (Guest house?)
|
Sorry for the double posting, but Numero Uno, El Prado Inn, or At Wind Chimes Inn. On some other travel board, I was reading some reviews on these particular ones. Also maybe ESJ Towers. A travel agent says it has been renovated and it nice.
|
El San Juan Towers is located in Isla Verde and is right next door to the Wyndham El San Juan - they are on the same beach. It is ahigh rise building and there are reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Hotel is 5 minutes from the airport.
|
The location of the ESJ Towers sounds great. Some mixed reviews on this hotel. As in bugs, dirty, etc. Only good thing that was said is the location.
|
The travel agent I spoke with told me to try "The Regency". It was not ESJ Towers. I think this is next to the Condado Plaza. Which is nicer? From the pictures the Wyndham Plaza looks nicer.

I was just in San Juan, Condado area. Stayed at the Mariott, fantastic hotel, beautiful beach. Oceanview rooms are beautiful, service was outstanding staff were more than accomodating. the beds were heavenly comfortable. WOW do you think I enjoyed my stay? Yep sure did.
|
My recollection is the Regency does not have a beach. You use the beach next to the Condado Plaza or the beach fronting the Marriott.
