San Juan Hotel for 1 night
Leaving for a cruise 3/10/07 , but flying in on 9th and need some help as to where to stay for 1 night in San Juan. Don't want to be to far from old San Juan where I assume the night life is, but would like a nice beach and View. Any suggestions.

On beach hotels in San Juan include: Courtyard by Marriott, El San Juan Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel, ESJ Towers, and Water club. Hotels that are with a couple of blocks of the beach are: Embassey Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express and Howard Johnson.
There are plenty more to choose from, do a google search for San Juan Ara hotels and you'll find a list of about 100 places. |
Stay at Sheraton Old San Juan across from where cruise ships leave.
I live in old san juan..so no need to go anywhere ese. 1 minute Walkable to SOFO (south fortelaza street) the night life of Old San Juan. Like authentic Itallian? Go to Venezia Restaurant at Plaza D'armas. 2 minute walk up Forteleza. LIke authentic PR food? stay at Sheraton and eat at Fogata's. Like jazz music/ Go to Carli's 4 blocks away... great food and music. Want Hard Rock Cafe? just before Carli's. HOpe this helps. |
Condado area might be a good choice for you if you want to be close to Old San Juan but still have a beach. The nicest hotel in that area is the Marriott. Also, the Caribe Hilton is between Condado and Old San Juan.

RCCL Serenade? If so, WE'LL BE ON THE SAME CRUISE!! We checked out most of the hotels suggested (I posted quite a bit on cruisecritic.com and tripadvisor as well) and found most to be rather pricy (my opinion) for just one night, withOUT a beach. We figured we'd have "beach time" the entire week so why pay so much more for a few hours (our plane arrives 1:15 pm, by the time you get through customs, get to the hotel . . .). Our choice: Embassy Suites. We booked online, paid in advance for pretty good discount and the stay includes happy hour and made to order breakfast. You can walk to the beach if you want - it's 2 blocks. It's 3/4 mile from the airport, approx. 6 miles from Old San Juan. Taxis are abundant and reasonable from what I researched so . . . We also plan to have a nice liesurely breakfast, then check in early on the ship to start enjoying it (since there is only 1 real day at sea on our itinerary).

Sorry! I mispoke, we'll be on cruise 2/10, not 3/10 - your pricing may be a bit better since we are true peak season.
