San Juan PR hurricane damage?

Hoping a recent visitor to Puerto Rico can advise us of hurricane damage/recovery in San Juan and PR islands. We are planning to visit in mid to late Feb 2020.

The two hurricanes that caused damage to Puerto Rico occurred over two years ago. Things have been back to normal for quite some time. You won’t see and evidence there even was a storm.

Thanks a bunch! We've never been there and will have only 6-7 days. If you're familiar with PR, would you advise just staying close to San Juan or also visiting the eastern islands? We generally like historical sights, beaches and exploring whatever is a bit "unique" wherever we go. Good food/nightlife is not a major consideration.

Since you like historical sites, explore Old San Juan. Also visit El Yunque (the rain forest). The beach at Luquillo Beach is beautiful.

I read online that the rainforest received extensive damage and is just not the same. Have you possibly been there in the last few months?

Nothing in the path of Irma and Maria will ever be "the same". In looking at the website for the park (El Yunque) it appears that they are still working on infrastructure, but I suspect that the trees are green and growing.
