San Jual - Ritz Carlton or Wyndham El San Juan?
If you had to choose between the Whndham El San Jan or Ritz Carlton for a 1 night pre-cruise stay, what would you choose?
Thanks for any feedback!

Both are my favorites in Puerto Rico. The Ritz Carlton has somewhat better service (or at least friendlier service) and more uniformly good rooms. The El San Juan has a terrific selection of restaurants and, depending on the night of the week, is very bustling and fun at night.

I have stayed at both and of the 2, in my opinion, the Ritz is definitely the nicer "resort"-- the rooms are nicer, the pool area is nicer, etc. I would rate the Ritz a 4 1/2 star and the el san juan a 4 star . The el san juan has more action though, especially if you are there for a weekend night. the el san juan also has more restaurants and more shops. Having stayed at both, I think I would return to the Ritz over the el San Juan but I tend to like that Ritz Carlton resort feel.

You got very good advise from all Fodorites.
I have also stayed at both. The Ritz Executive Floor is just wonderful. They change the food presentation five times a day, international liquors and great service. Regular floor service is also very good as well as their restaurants.
The Ritz is quiet, It makes me feel "very English" with their Tea Time and lazy afternoons and evenings. No action, no dancing, no crazy casino machines noises.
The El San Juan is all about action. A dancing club, a casino singer, a piano player. All short distances from one another. The lobby is very busy and elegant too. Like the Ritz, has a few shops and services.
Pick and choose, depending on what attracts you while visiting Puerto Rico.
Have a great time
