Safty on Seven-mile Beach, Negril

How safe it the Seven-mile Beach in Negril. Should we stay close to other people..Is it safe for two people to walk alone up and down the beach?

The Negril beach is very safe... You will have no problems at all - you can walk for miles - it's famous for it...

I would not, however, walk alone after midnight or so - take a cab instead.

We have never felt uneasy about walking the beach. We have walked from Sandals Negril to Sandals Beaches on several occasions and never have been bothered. We will be there in 3 weeks to walk it again.

What Eric said....we walk it all the time but after about midnight I wouldn't do it unless just going a very short way and/or in a large group. There just aren't that many people on it after midnight.

I agree with the other posts. My wife and I have walked it many times without incident. Just don't walk after midnight.

Don't know if the above poster is referring to Beaches Inn (now called something else) or Beaches. Beaches Inn is just up from Sandals and is easy walk up beach. However, Beaches is a pretty good hike. We were advised by Sandal's security that is not a real good idea to walk all the way to Beaches since there is stretch of beach that goes by an undeveloped area that may or may not be safe. For what it is worth. However, we did walk up and down the beach both directions (but not as far as Beaches) and never felt unsafe. Got approached by vendors and "smoke" sellers but never felt at risk.

My only warning is to not take photos of ANYONE without asking permission.

On the beach just outside of the more popular properties or wherever the is live reggae you'll see guys with makeshift gambling set ups. Most common is a game called Crown and Anchors. These guys are running a scam and I've seen them go crazy anytime they see a flash.

Early morning walks along the beach followed by a swim is a great way to start the day.

No, Not Beaches Inn, and yes Beaches is a hike but a very nice walk on the beach.

"Crown and Anchors"

Never heard of that one....is it like the 3 card monty scams in the states?
