safety in blue mountains
We were planning on spending a night in the blue mountains at a hostel called Whitfield Hall, and hiking the peak at around 2am. The mountains are so close to Kingston and I've been reading a lot about safety concerns in this area. Does anyone have any first hand experience or suggestions?

Hi most importantly you should not try to hike to the peak without a guide. I'm sure arrangements can be made through the hostel. The trail is not clearly marked and there are definately no lights to help you find your way. It will be Pitch black save for the moon. there most likely will be other hikers but this is not a guarantee. as for safety, well all big cites have crime but up in the hills is pretty safe; that said always be aware of what's going on around you.
