That IS sad news but sadly, it's not news to us. We've seen it first-hand. It's scary how many dead and bleached reefs we've seen the last few years. And these are the places the snorkel boats take you so I can only imagine the devastation in other places.

I would love to know where all this scientifc date came from. I've seen some dying reefs as well....but not at the percentages this article is claiming. This seems a bit extreme, and smells of the media looking to shock people so they have an interesting story.

There is a generation of tourists that doesn't even know what healthy reefs are supposed to look like. They see dead reefs with colorful fish.

Jimmie, I agree with you completely. But I have been to many different islands from Belize to Riviera Maya, St John, the Caymans, and several more and have found that the popular areas that seem to get hammered by the tour boats & cruise shippers are definitelytaking a beating. But if one get's away from the crowds there is plenty of good healthy coral around. This article just sounds extreme....and I wonder how many "away from the crowds" areas they are referring to.
