SA & Family are headed back to Montserrat !!
We've made the plane reservations & are firming up our places to stay. We'll be returning in Feb. & since some of our other travelers never got back to us on their views of Montserrat...Consider me your official Fodors Montserratian Ambassador. So, if anyone has any questions, requests, etc. I will be happy to do whatever I can to unearth the answer. Happy Travels.

JAGIRL - There are really only two hotels on the island & since we will be traveling w/the two tots, we typically opt for apartments/villas/cottages anyway. The hotels are the Vue Pointe ( adjacent to the exclusion zone) & the Tropical Mansion Suites which I know nothing about. We tried to have dinner at the View Pointe last time just to check it out, but they were having a wedding reception, so no luck. I'll have to see what pics I have (not on film) since we took two cameras. Shoot me your e-mail & I'll try & round some up for you. Mine is [email protected]. For a first timer I would suggest the Leas anyway. We tried to stay w/them again but the dates didn't work. They have from a back-packers room to a 2- Bdrm Villa from about $35-$125/night. www.visitmontserrat.com, they have a link on there..."Gingerbread Hill". There is also a new airline about ready to open up which I am hopeful will give Win-Air a little competition & help w/the prices.

If you go to www.bunkumbeachguesthouse.com they have some great pics on there JAGIRL. Restaurants - check out my old trip report. That will have the best info. There is not a lot of nightlife but a lot of activities congregate around the new community center area. St. Patricks Day & Christmas are two of the better festival times. Just click Montserrat on the search, there's not a lot of threads on here. You'll see SA in the header/title.

Nothing to contribute, I'm afraid. Just wanted to wish you a great trip and I'm looking forward to your trip report again. Do I remember correctly that at one time you wanted to combine a visit to Saba on this trip?

You are correct but due to timing & availability of flights, we're just doing Montserrat w/a stop-over in St. Maarten. I just couldn't coordinate Saba in there w/the timing & flights. JAGIRL - I found a few pics last night, but as I feared, most of our pics were taken w/the 'real' camera although I do have a couple of the volcano. I'll try & shoot those over this evening.

JAGIRL - Sorry I haven't been able to get any pics out. We've had nothing but problems w/roadrunner since we moved. We just got (another) new modem, we'll see if that works. You may have to wait until our next trip. I even tried sending them to my work address & no luck. I'll keep trying. Later.
