Rooms at Sandals Antiqua - which ones are best??

Hi - my husband and I have been to many of the other Sandals resorts and this time have decided to try Antiqua. Can someone tell me about the studio suites? I believe they are on the bluff and are the lowest of the cooncerige (sp?) roooms. From posts on this board and other ones, it seems like they have the longest walk but the best views?? We're debating between that room and the grand lux beachfront. Also - does anyone know how Sandals Antiqua compares to Negril (our favorite so far). Thanks!

Tara-

You might try the Antigua website: www.antigua-barbuda.org for more info. They have a wonderful newsgroup that is very active!

I would use caution with a beachfront room at Sandals Antigua. Dickinson Bay is very busy, and there will be more boat/jet ski noise int he beachfront rooms.

I stayed at Sandals for 2 weeks and they say the grand lux oceanfront is the only category where you will be guaranteed oceanfront we stayed in the highest category on our honeymoon it wasn't noisy at all. We had a great time.

Tara-we stayed at sandals antigua last year & had a wonderful time.We were in the honeymoon beachfront suites(not our honeymoon, that was quite a while back) it wasn't noisy at all. The view wasn't great. Don't know about the studios though. Acouple of years ago we were in sandals negril, that was nice but we enjoyed antigua much more. The beach vendors are numerous ,but not too bad.Enjoy your trip!!

Mike - thanks for the reply about the rooms! My husband and I have been to negril several times because we enjoy the beach and the resort so much. It's good to hear that someone who has been to both believes we'll enjoy Antigua just at much. We recently booked our room - we took the 1st level of the concierge rooms - I believe they sit up on a hill and overlook the resort/beach. They usually upgrade us though - so maybe we'll end up with a beachfront.

If you have any other things to pass on about the resort, I'd love to hear them!

Tara-You will have a great time. The staff are great people, the resort was pristene,& the beach....well if you're
beach people it's great!!! You can walk for about1/2 mile in either direction from the resort, if you go left from the resort you can walk up on a little bluff & see all the way into the port,
the only thing is, the day the ships are in the beach &town get a little crowded
so get a beach spot early. let us know how it was when you return.

Hi Tara,
I just got back from getting married at Sandals Antigua.
We stayed in the grand luxe beachfront with consierge service. The service was good and the view was great. It was the only block of rooms that guarantees a ocean view. Be sure to request an upstairs room. Some of the bottom floor rooms views can be slightly blocked by the shrubs, you get a better view from up stairs. It was not noisy at all.

Cassondra -

I also read your reviews (I'm assuming this is the same person) on the Antigua.org website. It sounds like you liked the resort, but was disappointed with how they handled your wedding? My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows when we go in April. I know this won't be as big of an event as your wedding was, but, we are currently planning on having pictures and getting the video. We also thought we would do the couples massage before-hand. Any input you have on this from your experience would be great. Also, my travel agent mentioned asking for the romance package when you get to the resort. I believe this is soomething that they do not let you book beforehand, but let you book after you get there. I think you can choose from things such as rose petals in your room, etc.... Did you do that also?
Thanks!

Hi Tara,
Yes I am the same person who posted on the other site. We pretty much liked the resort, the beach was very pretty. The srevice we recieved with the exception of the wedding staff and waitresses was great.
We did the couples massage and it was wonderful. I would recomend it. If you plan on getting your hair done for your ceremony Hazel does a great job!
Our rooms were nice and close to the beach and two pools. The other pool with the swim up bar was on the other side of the property.
We were not aware of the romance package. No one ever informed us of this option. My biggest suggestion would be is to make sure Ann is doing your pictures and not her helper.
I'm sure you will have a geat time. Make sure you have dinner at Kimono's and request Angelo as your cook. He is very funny. Linda is the bartender at the main bar and is a very nice person, she was always so pleasant and made it a point to learn our name the first time she saw us, from that point on she always said hello John& Cassondra. She was very personable.
Try to go parasailing at Tony's Water Sports. If your facing the ocean his stand is to the right. That was a blast. My mother even took a shot at it and thought it was really fun.
I'll try to email you some pictures as soon as I get them developed this week. Have a wonderful time and good luck.
Cassondra.
