Rooms at Galley Bay in Antigua

What are the best rooms at the Galley Bay in Antigua? I am using air miles for a trip in March. We are doing Beachfront which is the second grade. There are four grades, Cottage, Beachfront, Deluxe Beachfront and Beachfront Suite.

We stayed in Deluxe Beachfront, on the second floor and the whole Galley Bay experience was wonderful. First floor delux have people walking next to your porch/terrace all the time so that your privacy is comprised. Beachfront have no terrace, is sandwiched between aquatic sports area and common dining/drinking area. Some Beachfront are beyond sports area. They look a little dark, but we never investigated. We just couldn't muster the energy. We were so relaxed. It depends what you want to spend. I guess you get what you pay for. We hope to go back next year and stay again in the Delux. A wonderful, wonderful place. Watch out for the rum punch on the first night!

We, too, stayed in a beachfront deluxe room (right on the beach)when we were at Galley Bay in December 2002 and plan to again when we go back in March 2004. We were on the 2nd floor of the bungalow and definitely had the best view and the most privacy. The previous poster is right--the superior beachfront rooms are right on the beach but have little privacy since folks can walk right by and look in. That might be something of a problem on the first floor of the deluxe beachfront rooms too, but they are on a more isolated stretch of beach with far fewer folks walking by. The Gaugin Cottages are cute and the cheapest way to go, but they overlook nothing but a lagoon (which looks more like a swamp). Galley Bay is the best though! You'll love it!

We stayed on a first floor beachfront suite in June 2000- and noone ever came near our glass sliders or patio- (never saw one person walk by in a week!) it was totally private bacause it is on the sand, but there is no reason for people to walk right by pr in front of your room because there are just a few rooms at the end of the resort where these beachfront suites are. Very nice inside the room- spic and span and comfortable with plenty of room and closet space and the views are incredible. There is a restaurant (1 of 2- the more casual one- and the food is amazing by the way) on the resort nearby, but people use the garden walkways that are situated on the back of the rooms. I highly recommend the beachfront suite- it is worht the extra bucks. The pictures in the brochure and the website don't even do it justice- it was amazing. You are going to love it.
