I think the road to HCV is horrendous! probably more like 20 minutes. since you like the off the beaten path, why don't you check out villas in Chaulk sound? Gorgeous views. You may also find a villa in Leeward. Look at Prestigiousproperties.com, or even try Wimco.com. I think there are short term rentals on Sapidilla Bay too, gorgeous beach there for the kids.
Also look into Turks and Caicos Club, I think it has only 24 rooms.
Most of the resorts on Provo are small.
Overall, all of Turks and Caicos is pretty quiet.
