RIU Tropical Bay Questions
Hi,
I know I have asked a few questions in the past...but I just have a few more. I have appreciated all the help in the past and I hope to have a few more questions answered.

I have heard that the RIU allows vendors to sell items at the Resort in a specific area, however, are there vendors walking around the beach?

What tours would you recommend?
..we were considering visiting YS Falls or Mayfield Falls...which one is better?

Your help is appreciated.

I prefer Mayfield, closer, fewer tourists, very pretty mountain setting.

Ys is better if you have a physical handicap or are very old/young...there is less walking/climbing involved.

I don't know about the vendors.

Does anyone have any comments regarding vendor's on the beach at the RIU Tropical Bay? I have been informed that the resort allows local vendor's to sell their items on the resort grounds..my question is..are there vendor's (not associated with the RIU) walking onto the beach and selling their items?

Thanks again for your help.

Mayfield Falls is much more rustic and the water is fast and furious. You MUST be adventurous and athletic to enjoy it. The guides are great but it take work to walk thru those currents. You'll never forget the experience.

YS Falls is tame and more touristy. YS is really a pool you can jump or swing into - as opposed to walk up river.

Assuming this is the RIU on Bloody Bay in Negril, it is on the same beach as Grand Lido where we stayed and we did not see any vendors on the beach. The vendors allowed by the hotel were by our pool and were not at all aggressive. The security is pretty tight getting into the resort and each resort has a guard house on the beach.

If you do want to buy craft items there is a craft market on the other side of the street outside of the resort, fairly close to Grand Lido and Couples, just a short walk down the beach from RIU. Or you can take a cab into Negril or walk along the 7 mile beach where there are more vendors.

We went out to YS Falls and enjoyed it, esp. the 20 minutes we had in the beginning before the tour groups started showing up.
